The teaching staff in the Hospital Education Program (HEP) work as inpatient hospital teachers for grades PreK-12. Educational consultants work in various pediatric outpatient clinics. They meet with children and families during clinic visits and serve as liaisons between clinic staffs and home school divisions. Each teacher and consultant holds a Master’s degree in Education and has a valid teacher certificate with endorsement in special education or specific content areas. Staff work with over 140 public school systems across Virginia; thus successful candidates will have experience teaching in the public schools.
Instructional assistants in the HEP are highly qualified paraprofessionals. They are high school graduates and have passed the ParaPro Assessment or have a minimum of 2 years of college level courses.
All HEP staff members are employed by the Charlottesville City Schools. For additional information about employment with the HEP, please visit the Charlottesville City Schools Human Resources page.
