The Hospital Education Program (HEP) is a State Operated Program established and supervised by the Virginia Department of Education to ensure that children in specialized hospitals have access to school services. In addition, the HEP maintains a cooperative, inter-agency relationship with the Charlottesville City Schools and the University of Virginia Health System.
The HEP is present in every corner of the UVA Children’s Hospital. Both inpatient and outpatient services are available to students at no cost. Each year the HEP serves students from over 140 local school divisions throughout Virginia as well as other states and countries.
